WE WORK SOFT PLASTIC BAITS FOR SMALLMOUTH BASS

  • Water level was down significantly which is not unusual for this time of the year.
  • This is a manual hand crank boat propeller that comes from England. AL got this from a friend.
  • Dan got his Smallmouth Bass on a Plastic Worm
  • Dan got another Smally on the plastic worm. Notice the portable fishfunder
  • That's AL by himself in the 11.6 ft Grumman. This is a reliable boat for one or two guys. It glides through the water effortlessly.
  • Dan saw a rise and sent the worm out to it hoping for a strike!
  • Plastic worm and 7 ft medium light spinning rod works well.
  • Check out clarity of water. We were only in 2 ft of water but this reservoir is clean and clear all around. It's a great body of water for Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout, and Walleye.
  • Pete lossed this lunker Smally on that jump. He was crushed!
  • Weather was perfect. Overcast, high 60's and very light breeze. Usually the wind howls on this water so this was a plus day!
  • This is a strong reliable clamp for the portable Humminbird 140C fishfinder we use on this reservoir.
  • This a really nice unit that comes with sidescan capability as wll as down scan. The Humminbird 140C
  • Pete going for his 12th Smally and AL in the distance.
  • Super storm Sandy sent a tree down on one of the boats near ours. This is / was a really nice 14ft Sears boat.
  • That's Pete bringing gear back off the boats.
  • The Grumman is easily carried by 3 guys. 2 in the back. We have hauled it out with only 2 guys with no trouble
  • Pete built this boat dolly using parts around his garage. That thing saves a LOT of back breaking work! on the bigger boats we use.
  • AL waits for us to help haul the boat back to the drop area where we keep it.
  • AL was comfortable handling the 11.6 ft Grumman by himself.
  • Hiking back to the car. This is not a hike for the faint of heart. This trail gets REALLY steep towards the end.
  • AL says.. get the CAR! It's a half mile hike from the car to the waters edge so carry a light load.

SMALLMOUTH BASS FISHING TRIP

Air Temp: - 66 degrees
Water Temp: 64 degrees
All fish were caught in 3 to 8 ft depths in the Lower section of the Reservoir.
Weather: Light breeze from the East
Fish caught: Smallmouth Bass
Lures: no live bait was used, all fish were caught on artificial baits... rattler baits, top water plugs, and plastics

Reservoir Size: Max. length 12 mi (19 km) Max. width 1 mi (2 km) Surface area 8,300 acres (3,400 ha) Average depth 14 m Max. depth 190 ft (58 m) Water volume 465,200,000 m3 (0.1116 cu mi) Shore length1 40 mi (60 km) Surface elevation 585 ft (178 m)

Overcast skies provided perfect conditions for a slow drift along the Southern and Eastern shorelines. This portion of the reservoir has shoreline overhanging cover but no underwater vegetation for cover, it's all rock structure. The Smally's love it though.

All fish we caught was mostly on a 4" Plastic Worm, 4" Tube bait, and small topwater baits between 10:00 am and 3:30pm. Most of the activity occurred in the morning hours between 10am and noon.

This reservoir is restricted to NY Ranger registered and approved non powered boats only... manpower only guys!
